We want you to know what it feels to reach the summit with little effort and with the reward of having the best views of Ushuaia and the Beagle Channel. Our mountain guides will take you on a walk through a wood of lenga beeches and ??ires? (Antarctica Beech), crossing brooks until we get to the limit of the vegetation. We will keep ascending until we get to a mountain lake, lake Margot, and from there straight to the top. The views are breathtaking: mountain, forest, city, the Beagle Channel and the Navarino and Hoste islands on the other side of the channel. We will have lunch and start our descent to the city, taking with the memory of the best panoramic views in Ushuaia.

Description |
|
| This option allows you to enjoy the thriving natural beauty of Tierra del Fuego, mounted on ?criollos? horses, which are adapted to the changing conditions of the mountain contours. The characteristics of the land around us will vary a lot: dense forests, white and marshy areas, sphagnum bogs, steep slopes, paths on rock and slab stone, crossing of brooks and rivers. We depart from the Horse Center Fin del Mundo, toward Monte Susana, we travel the paths the prisoners of Ushuaia used to take during the years the forests in the area were cut down. The unbelievable panoramic views of Ushuaia, the Beagle Channel and the Bridges Islands appear before us as we gain height. After that we cross the forest of lengas and black cherry trees through narrow paths near the National Park Tierra del Fuego, till we get to the shores of the Beagle Channel, from where we will start our return by the banks of River Pipo.

| Lago Fagnano Off Road |
|
As follows the travelers profile, in this excursion you get shaken up inside a 4x4. However, Lakes
is a trip for all ages. That doesn’t mean we won’t be driving into the lake itself to surf the waves,
or taking on impossible mud tracks, or rescuing the truck ourselves from natural ensnarement
using the winch. On this trip you can not miss, we’ll be crossing the Andes, and following Lake
Fagnano for 10 miles (15km) up to the banks where Canal’s cabin is waiting for us. In this idyllic
place, located in the middle of a thousand-year-old forest, we’ll be lunching on an exquisite
barbeque and spicing up the after-dinner chats with some well deserved toasts. On the way back,
we’ll make a stop at Hostería Petrel, facing Lake Escondido. We’ll drive again through National
Road 3 coming back to Ushuaia. End of the escapade, beginning of a great friendship.
Highlights: Carabajal & Tierra Mayor Valley, Garibaldi Pass, Escondido Lake, Bronzovich Sawmill,
Beaver dams, Fagnano Lake.

Watching the beavers |
|
During the 20th century, various pairs of beavers were brought from Canada to try and develop
the fur industry. The results were not as good as expected and our furry friends did nothing but
get along with each other extremely well and reproduce on a large scale. Naturally, these
characters built their dams in the middle of the lakes that they themselves have created, thus
changing the landscape beyond all recognition. Of course they are a plague, but there are many
who defend them. For us, it's a philosophical question: what fault do the poor beavers have for
the miscalculation of us human?. Meanwhile, these fantastic rodents go on enjoying both the
landscape around them and our visits. Beaver encounter takes place in the evening, because that's
the only time of day when they leave their lodges. We close up on their habitat along challenging
mud tracks, then, after kitting ourselves up on learning about their lives, we'll be enjoying a
delicious stew under the impressive sunset.
Highligths: Rio Chico Valley, Amazing view of Olivia Peak.

Description |
|
| The path starts at the Tierra Mayor Valley, going first through a sphagnum bog and then into an old forest to finally end in the Valley de la Altura. The walk goes on by the banks of River ?Esmeralda? (Emerald) until reaching the lake of the same name, which leads to the glacier, so green that it pays homage to its name (350 masl). After a brief stop, the walks continues by the lake on its eastern shores. In this area, you can watch the beaver dams. Then, we go on till the limit of vegetation (600 masl). The landscape is a typical mountain landscape, where rock, snow and ice are the masters. After going around the ?Paredes Naranjas? (Orange Walls), ancient stone walls which are so colored, we reach the ancient ice by ?Ojo del Albino? (Eye of the Albino) Lake (980 masl), lying on the foot of the glacier, from where we can fully appreciate the majestic beauty of the Andes ?Fueguinos?. The Glacier in this area is a massive flat ice giant run through by crevices and surrounded by dark sharp peaks which pours its waters in the Ojo del Albino lake, where big icebergs float. After lunch, we start our way back by an alternative road.

Description |
|
| The excursion begins with the transportation from the starting path, located in the Valley of the River Larsifarshai, 30 Km from Ushuaia. Hidden amidst the existing vegetation are the remains of an old woodcutters? path which goes deep into the Valley of River Tristen, in an almost straight line. On our right, the river is with us, strong and roaring. After a walk of an hour and a half, we get to an old shelter shaped like an Indian hut, where we will take a rest to recover our strengths. From there the high valley opens, flat and surrounded by mountains, almost completely dammed by beavers. We cross the valley up on a sphagnum bog, till we find a hill the divides the waters. In this area, the landscape changes, turning flat. Besides, the area is splattered by lakes of different sizes, some of which flow toward the Beagle Channel and others the Pacific Ocean. A while later, we ride to a rock carrier, where the guanacos have made a path leading us straight into a lookout point, from where it is possible to watch Lake Margarita and the Great Lake at the back.
