The weather is predominantly humid with precipitations in the form of rain, snow, hail or sleet, evenly distributed all along the year.
Ushuaia has really long solar days, from around 17 hours in summer to 8 hours in June (winter). This long solar days (from October to April) provide the perfect conditions to enjoy outdoor activities.
The sun is a key influence on the temperature, and on sunny days the thermal sensation will be much higher than the thermometer indicates.
The wind is hard in summer, but winter is not particularly windy, this greatly benefits activities in the winter resorts. |

Most of the activities, both in winter and in summer, are carried outdoors taking up several hours, so it is essential to wear the right clothes and shoes.

Summer: |

We recommend sport clothes, preferably loose (like leggings), sweaters, and wind and waterproof jackets. When you visit the National Park, you have to dress “like an onion”, meaning a light inner layer (polyester or something of the sort), a second layer of some artificial fiber (a sweater, a pullover, etc.) and a third and outer water and windproof layer. |

Winter: |

The same as in the summer but with a warmer waterproof jacket and keep in mind that the city and the winter resorts are covered by snow and ice, for which it is important to have the right shoes.
If you are planning to undertake an activity such as ski or snowboard, you must get the necessary equipment in advance or, if you wish, you can buy or rent it in our town, Ushuaia has numerous shops which offer trekking and skiing supplies. |
